Ledger® Live is the official app to manage your Ledger hardware wallet. Whether you're new to crypto or a seasoned investor, Ledger Live offers a secure and user-friendly interface to buy, sell, manage, and stake your digital assets.

In this guide, you’ll learn how to securely login, set up your Ledger device, install apps, protect your recovery phrase, and navigate the Ledger Live interface safely.

Step 1: Ledger® Live Login

Ledger Live does not require a traditional "username/password" login. Instead, your Ledger hardware wallet acts as your physical security key. Every time you open Ledger Live and connect your device, you're “logging in” using hardware authentication.

• Download the latest version of Ledger Live from ledger.com/ledger-live
• Connect your Ledger device via USB or Bluetooth
• Enter your PIN on the device
• Ledger Live will detect the device and unlock your portfolio

Step 2: Device Setup

Setting up your Ledger device is critical to securing your assets. During initial setup:

• Choose a secure 4-8 digit PIN
• Write down your 24-word recovery phrase (this is your backup!)
• Never share this phrase with anyone. Ledger will NEVER ask for it.

After setup, you can install apps for Bitcoin, Ethereum, or hundreds of other assets directly through Ledger Live.

Step 3: Security Best Practices

Your security is only as strong as your habits. Always follow these practices:

• Keep your recovery phrase offline: Never store it on a computer or phone.
• Beware of phishing: Always access Ledger Live through the official website.
• Update firmware regularly: Ledger Live will notify you when updates are available.
• Double-check recipient addresses: Use QR codes or trusted copy-paste sources.

Ledger Live encrypts data locally and communicates with the blockchain through secure APIs. Your private keys never leave the device.

Step 4: Installing Apps in Ledger Live

Ledger Live lets you manage over 5,000 digital assets by installing apps directly onto your Ledger hardware wallet:

• Go to the “My Ledger” tab in Ledger Live
• Connect and unlock your device
• Select apps for cryptocurrencies you want to use (e.g., Bitcoin, Ethereum)
• Install them with one click

Each app allows you to create accounts and manage transactions securely.

Troubleshooting & Common Issues

If you're facing issues logging in or setting up Ledger Live, consider the following:

• Device not detected: Try another USB port or cable
• App not opening: Reinstall Ledger Live or update to the latest version
• PIN blocked: After 3 failed attempts, the device resets
